Hello and Happy New Year to our Dear Members and Friends!
What a great year we have in store for you. At our first meeting with our new Board tonight, we will put together a schedule of Events ready for you to come and network your businesses. Please check our Events page regularly on our website for details.
Our major event being planned is Experience Croydon Park! A day when 50 satellite events will be held at various venues along or nearby Georges River Rd, featuring live music, pampering tours, and the finest food on the planet! It is scheduled for Saturday October 11, so mark your diaries now.
The event’s Steering Committee is hard at work to bring this exciting event together – one that will engage the community and liven up community spirit – and met with Burwood Council Mayor, John Faker this morning. They will also be meeting with Ashfield and Canterbury Councils in the coming weeks.
The new Board will officially be sworn in tonight, and their details will soon be listed on our website. Should you wish to raise an issue relating to your business with any of them, please see the About Us/Committee tab for their details.
We appreciate your input of ideas and what we can do in a combined effort to benefit our area, our businesses and our community. Please help us keep content on the website fresh and interesting by sending your News and Events. Photos are also welcome. Don’t forget you have the opportunity to advertise your business in a number of ways on the website, at extremely reasonable cost compared to most other advertising options.
Remember, together we can achieve so much and “PUT CROYDON PARK ON THE MAP”.

Following the close of the consultation period for the M4 East concept design a community issues report will be prepared and published on the WestConnex website.
The comments received will be considered and addressed as part of the environmental impact statement (EIS) and will be used to refine the motorway design. The EIS will go on public exhibition late in 2014.
An important milestone has been reached for the M4 Widening, with six construction contractors and joint ventures lodging expressions of interest to design and construct this section of WestConnex, with work due to start early 2015.
The NSW and Australian governments have embarked on Australia’s largest road transport project, the 33km WestConnex motorway linking Sydney’s west and south west with the city, airport and port. A concept design for the M4 East section of WestConnex, between Homebush Bay Drive and Parramatta Road and City West Link, is now on display until 17 February 2014.
Major construction on the M4 East is scheduled to commence in mid 2016.
Feedback on the M4 East concept design will be used to refine the motorway design and provide input to the environmental impact assessment.
To view the concept design and more information, including upcoming information sessions that you can drop in on at any time, visit the WestConnex website here.
We are delighted to inform you that Ms Yasmin king, Small Business Commissioner for NSW has arranged to have the Small Biz Bus in Croydon Park on Friday November 22nd, 2013.
Local businesses can book in an hour to discuss business matters with an Advisor. It is an excellent opportunity to receive useful information and business guidance tailored to your particular circumstances.
Bendigo Bank, the community bank has indicated that they are willing to help us set up shop in our business strip. The community will own the bank and provide local employment. Spearheaded by Jon Brewster of Sydney Cash Registers, and backed by Croydon Park Business Chamber, there is major movement in the air.
How many times have you wished for a bank up the road rather than having to jump on a bus or in the car and race to a bank in another area and hope you make it before closing time?
A local bank will put an end to the mad dash. How much more convenient is a local ATM especially when running low on cash? Our Community Bank will be owned by its people. Profits will be used locally to benefit its residents, schools, sports groups, charities and businesses.
The only way we can make this happen is for you, the people of Croydon Park and surrounds to become involved. You can do this in a number of ways, from becoming involved in the Steering Committee, to making a pledge, and to banking with the Community Bank.
A suburb with a bank is a vibrant suburb and it will bring new blood and custom to our beautiful area. But it’s now or never, and it needs you to get behind it 100%. It cannot go ahead without the backing of Croydon Park’s businesses, home based businesses and residents.
To get involved, call Jon Brewster on 0487 922 151.

For all of you who love community events, CPBC is planning to hold one with a difference. Not for us is the usual Street Fair or Park Festival – not that there’s anything wrong with that!
No, for Croydon Park we want to hold a number of events at different locations, on the same day, where you can wander down leisurely, from one location to another – here you will be able to participate or simply stand back and watch a craftsperson do their thing.
This Cultural Event will require much planning so if you want to be part of something truly exciting, and just a little out of the ordinary, come to one of our meetings.
Next meeting: Tuesday 19th November , 7.30pm
Hair Collections Salon, 153 Georges River Rd, Croydon Park
